SUPERIOR — For the first time in its 74-year history, the Wisconsin Writers’ Association will hold its annual fall conference in Northwest Wisconsin.

The conference takes place Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 at the Barker’s Island Inn and Conference Center. The theme of this year’s conference is “The Craft of Writing; Celebrating Northland Diversity and Nature.”

It will feature 17 speakers from Northwest Wisconsin and Northeast Minnesota including members of the Red Cliff and Fond du Lac bands, Duluth poet laureates, a Newberry Award winning author, nature writers, memorists, novelists, professors, educators, publishing experts and trade professionals.

A Friday evening banquet will be followed by Native American flute music.

On Saturday, a variety of inspirational workshops on the craft of writing and publishing will take place. Regional authors will also be signing and selling their books.

Members and non-members are welcome to attend. It will be an opportunity to enhance one’s creativity, to learn practical tips about the craft of writing, and to network with other writers and wanna-be-writers.
