The eighth annual "Socks for Survivors" golf scramble, a fundraiser for the Center Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse, is July 29 at Nemadji Golf Course in Superior, rain or shine.

The event was created to help bring attention to the fact that survivors served by CASDA may be fleeing a violent situation with only the clothes on their backs. Donations of new socks for children and adults are always needed and welcome at CASDA. The theme is fun for golfers, too, because they are awarded prizes for the wackiest and classiest socks on the course.

"Socks for Survivors" provides multiple mixed team and proximity prizes, 50/50 drawings, additional games and opportunities including a chartered fishing outing. Donate a pair or package of new socks for a chance to win a door prize.

Team check-in starts at 10:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at noon. Early bird registration is $90 per player for a four-person team, including green fees, cart rental, dinner and a team photo. The cost is $100 per person the day of the event. Register by calling 715-392-3136 or visit the Hole sponsorships are available. Email
