Several events planned to support Alzheimer's walk

Local volunteers and organizations begin work in preparation for this year's "Walk to End Alzheimer's." The 2011 walk at the Bong Heritage Center and raised over $10,000.

Local volunteers and organizations begin work in preparation for this year's "Walk to End Alzheimer's." The 2011 walk at the Bong Heritage Center and raised over $10,000.

Money raised help the Alzheimer's Association support research and provides support for those affected, as well as reduces risk through promotion of brain health.

The next planning meeting for the 2012 walk is 5:30-6:30 p.m. April 18.

The meeting will be held at St. Francis in the Park, 1800 New York Ave, Superior. New volunteers are encouraged to attend.

Several fundraising events are already scheduled. St. Francis in the Park has a Pancake Breakfast 7:30-11:30 a.m. April in the basement Activity Room. The Lighthouse of Superior Assisted Living and Memory Care hosts Casino Day 1-4 p.m. May 5. Both events are open to the public, and the contributions made will go toward the 2012 "Walk to End Alzheimer's."
