Beginning Monday, Senior Connections starts up a new service to transport seniors age 60 or older to Super One Stores in Superior each Monday and Wednesday.

This service is provided to those living in senior housing units in the city.

The goal is to expand the program to outlying areas of Douglas County in the near future as the demand increases.

The vehicle that will be used to transport participants is a seven-passenger mini-bus that is handicapped accessible.

In order to participate, you must call the office in advance and request a seat for grocery shopping.

Please let us know at that time which Super One you would like to be dropped off at, and if you want to go on Monday or Wednesday, so that we may coordinate trips.

You will be called back with a time and date confirmation for your ride. Rides run between 9 a.m. and noon, depending on how many sign up at the various locations. You will be picked up and dropped off at your destination, and the mini bus will return in approximately one hour to take you home. All riders returned no later than 1 p.m.

Cost of this service will be $4 round trip.

As this program grows, we hope to have more routes and hours. For more information, or if you are interested in participating, call 394-3611.
