The typical problem drinker once was considered middle-aged, male and white. Though that image still is commonly held, the reality is that problem drinkers are also teenagers, female, and elderly people of all races, nations and creeds.
This year's Duluth Roundup for recovering alcoholics and friends and families of alcoholics will take that fact into account, as it increasingly has done in its 64 years of existence.
The three-day event begins Friday, September 11, 2009 at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC) with an opening meeting at 6 p.m. and ends Sunday after the Sunday morning speaker at 10:30 a.m.
The first speaker, Don M. from Louisville, KY begins at 8 p.m. Friday. Social time and open meeting will follow.
A breakfast for out-of-town persons will be served from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday morning at the Duluth Alano Club, 3009 Restormel St.
