It's March and time for the annual HCE Quiltathon!
The Mariner Mall in Superior will host the event 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday.
Home and Community Education members will lead community volunteers in completing about 50 quilts in a day. Eventually around 100 children's quilts are donated each year to Twin Ports organizations that support kids in crisis. All are welcome to attend. Bring scissors, juvenile fabrics, flannel, batting, completed (36-inch-by-36-inch) or incomplete quilts if you have them; otherwise all needed items will be supplied. Supplies are generously donated by sponsors in the Twin Ports: Celtic Moose, Country Schoolhouse, Fabric Works, Hanna Johnson Fabrics, Kelly J's, Quilting on the Waterfront, Mariner Mall and Wal-Mart.
