High School teachers and students are invited to apply for Project Ignition, a national teen driver safety grant program sponsored by State Farm Companies Foundation and coordinated by the National Youth Leadership Council.
The deadline for applications to be submitted is June 30.
Project Ignition addresses teen driver safety issues through locally designed service-learning projects. Students in grades 9-12 form school-based teams that develop local outreach campaigns to tackle issues such as drinking and driving, cell phone use and seat belt use.
The 25 schools judged to be among the best campaign proposals each year receive a $2,000 grant from State Farm to turn their plan into action. From the top 25, those judged to be the top 10 best campaigns will receive an additional $5,000 grant to help send their team to the National Service-Learning Conference in San Jose, Calif. in March 2010.
