Zachary Leno and Noah Gunderson, juniors at Superior High School, were the Youth Optimists for October.
Leno is involved in FBLA, DECA, and Pledgemakers. He plays Spartan soccer and tennis, and he is a coach for the Superior Basketball Association and AYSA. He is a volunteer for NETS and the YMCA Day Camp. The son of Brandon and Melissa Leno, he has a younger brother, Tanner.
Leno has plans to explore a career in law at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
Gunderson is involved in FBLA, DECA and Pledgemakers. He plays Spartan soccer and basketball. He is a coach for the Arrowhead Youth Soccer Association and volunteer at the Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank. The son of Brett and Sarah Gunderson, he has two younger siblings.
Noah would like to attend a four-year college and major in engineering.
Leno and Gunderson will have the opportunity to apply for the Youth Optimist Scholarship and Service Award after the 2019-20 school year.
