Ostrowski, Bukowski named October Optimists

Jenny Ostrowski and Brett Bukowski, juniors at Superior High School, were selected as the Superior Optimist Club youth Optimists for the month of October.

Jenny is an A-honor roll student who participates in SHS tennis, figure skating, Mock Trial, Forensics and student council. Her community involvement includes volunteering at SMDC and teaching skating, Girl Scouts, Superior Figure Skating Club and the Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership Program.

She plays the piano and will be studying in Germany next semester with the Wisconsin-Hessen Exchange program. Jenny plans to attend college after high school with the goal of becoming a doctor with a focus on international medicine.

Brett is also an A-honor roll student who participates in SHS varsity hockey, FBLA, DECA, and the Pledgemakers Club. He received the Spartan Scholar Award in both his freshman and sophomore years.

In the community, he volunteers to help youth hockey players, plays hockey for Team Wisconsin, and is enrolled in the Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership Program.

He attended the Scott Anderson Leadership Forum and the National Youth Leadership Forum on National Security in Washington, D.C.

The students have been joining the Optimist Club for weekly luncheon meetings.

They will have the opportunity next fall to apply for a $1,000 community service award sponsored by the club.
