Jeb Kimmes and Gabby Heytens, juniors at Superior High School, were selected as the Superior Optimist Club Youth Optimists for October.
Jeb Kimmes participates in Superior High School student council, Pledgemakers, golf, basketball, jazz band, and concert band. He is a member of the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership program and volunteers as a basketball coach, referee and scorekeeper. He has participated in national auditions for piano. He would like to continue his education after high school, possibly at the University of Wisconsin to pursue a degree in engineering. Jeb is the son of Julie Kimmes.
Gabby Heytens participates in Superior High School tennis, FCA, Key Club, Pledgemakers, Future Business Leaders of America, and Mock Trial. She is a member of the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership program and volunteers at St. Luke's Hospital and as a reading acceleration mentor. Following high school, she would like to attend college to pursue an education in the medical field. Gabby is the daughter Pat and Renee Heytens.
The students have been joining the Optimist Club for weekly luncheon meetings. They will have the opportunity next fall to apply for a $1,000 service award sponsored by the club.
