From trunk or treats to haunted houses and costume contests, Douglas County communities are doing Halloween up big.

Thursday, Oct. 28

Superior: Trick or treat at Fairlawn Mansion and Museum’s main entrance from 3-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, and Friday, Oct. 29. Grab goodies from the main entrance to the mansion and see the grand entrance that guests would have used when visiting the Pattison family. The museum is located at 906 E. Second St.

Superior: The Massacre on Hammond, a free haunted house at 1701 Hammond Ave., will be held from 7-10 p.m. Donations accepted.

Friday, Oct. 29

Superior: The Superior Business Improvement District welcomes trick or treaters from 2-5 p.m. Participating businesses will offer treats for the kids.

Superior: Trick or treat from 3-6 p.m. at the Humane Society of Douglas County, 138 Moccasin Mike Road. Pets are welcome at this outdoor event.

Superior: The Massacre on Hammond, a free haunted house at 1701 Hammond Ave., will be held from 7-10 p.m. Donations accepted.

Saturday, Oct. 30

Superior: The Sterling Silver Studio Spooktacular Parade will be held at 2 p.m. The parade route will start at North 14th Street and Ogden Avenue and travel north to Broadway Street, then east to Hughitt Avenue.

Superior: The Salvation Army PumpkinPatch Carnival runs from 2-5 p.m. with free games and prizes; food available for purchase.

Gordon: The Gordon Good Neighbor Days Committee will hold a Trunk or Treat, complete with a campfire and s’mores, from 4-6 p.m. at Mooney Ballpark, followed by a 6 p.m. outdoor screening of “Hocus Pocus.” Trunk setup is free and begins at 3 p.m. Coldwell Banker of Minong plans to set up a hot dog stand.

Lake Nebagamon: The Nebagamon Community Association will stage a trunk or treat and haunted ship along the trails at 6983 S. Maple Creek Road from 4-8 p.m. The road will be blocked off for trunk or treat vehicles to park. To sign up to be a trunk or treat vehicle, call Mike, 715-815-0588 or Patti’s Dockside, 715-374-9200.

Superior: The Goin’ Postal Poltergeist Pub Crawl through the city’s North End neighborhood begins at 7 p.m. with a costume contest at Top Hat Tavern afterward.

Sunday, Oct. 31

Town of Superior: The Four Corners Store, 6383 S Cty Road A, will host a trunk or treat from 1-3 p.m. Donations for the Masonic Children’s Hospital will be collected.

Summit: The Tri Lakes Community Center, 7872 County Road A, will host a Trunk 'n Treat from 1-3 p.m. Trunks will be decorated for Halloween, s'mores will be available for toasting and treats will be passed out.

Lake Nebagamon: The Nebagamon Community Association will hold a kids Halloween party from 3-6 p.m. in the Lake Nebagamon Auditorium with a costume contest at 5:45 p.m. There will be candy and prizes, with food available to purchase. Candy donations can be dropped off at local businesses.

Superior: North Bay Community Church, 1316 E. Fifth St., will host a trunk or treat from 3-6 p.m.

Poplar: A trunk or treat will be held in downtown Poplar by the community park. Trunks can be set up from 4-4:45 p.m.; trick or treaters will go through from 5-6 p.m.

Solon Springs: The Solon Springs Parent Teacher Organization presents a trunk or treat event from 1-4 p.m. in the parking lot of the Solon Springs School. There will be a best trunk contest as well as a Halloween Carnival inside the school for Solon Springs families. Students must sign up ahead of time for the carnival.

Superior: Concordia Lutheran Church hosts a trunk ‘n treat from 5-7 p.m. in the lot across from 1708 John Ave.

Superior: The Goin’ Postal Fall Music Festival, a benefit for the Bluebird Foundation, will hold three events: 4 p.m. at Thirsty Pagan Brewing, music by Mackie Bros, Israel Malachi and Born Too Late; 6 p.m. at Top Hat Tavern, live music by John Seguin, The Fractals, Winzige Hosen, BoomStick, costume contest; 7 p.m. Tower Avenue Tavern, live music by Woodblind, Boog3ym3n, Velahsa, Theft by Swindle, costume contest.
