The Center Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse will kick off Domestic Violence Awareness Month with art and music at Barker’s Island Festival Park from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 1.
The free public event will feature local musicians, artists, speakers and more, and begins a month of activity. Other Twin Ports events highlighting Domestic Violence Awareness Month include the following:
Kicks 4 Causes
The Minnesota Duluth women’s soccer team will be collecting donations for CASDA’s shelter from noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 3 at the James S. Malosky stadium during their game against Southwest Minnesota State.
End abuse at the Caboose
Join the CASDA for dinner and fun at the Thirsty Pagan from 4-7 p.m. Oct. 5. For a $20 donation, enjoy locally made pizza for one, and a beer (or alternative beverage), live music and prize opportunities while taking a stand against abuse. Children 10 and under are $10.
Why does she stay?
Join CASDA from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Oct. 13, at VIP, 1201 Tower Ave., to learn about the dynamics of domestic violence and the barriers that victims face when trying to leave. No time to spare bowl-a-thon
Join CASDA for bowling and fun at Village Lanes, 6419 Tower Ave., from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 24. People can register their team for the 11 a.m. game or 2 p.m. game online. The cost is $100 per team of five. The event features bowling, door prizes, a 50/50 raffle and meat raffle. Prizes will be available for the highest score, most creative team vibe, most pledge money raised and more. Funds raised support services for adult and child survivors of domestic violence, as well as community outreach and awareness activities.
