Superior: The public is invited to the Bong Airport and Commemorative Air Force Open House from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Richard I. Bong Memorial Airport, 4804 Hammond Ave. Aircraft hangars and the airport open for tours; Superior Sky Divers will be available for questions. The Experimental Aircraft Association pancake breakfast will be held from 8-11 a.m. The Commemorative Airforce Lunch, including Superior Meats barbecue and Blue Water Big Band will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is free admission to the airport.

Superior: Douglas County Trader's Village runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Head of the Lakes Fairgrounds, 4700 Tower Ave. The event includes crafts, direct sales, a farmers market, a petting zoo and food vendors.

Tuesday, June 15

Ashland: Educators in all formal and informal settings are invited to join the Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve and Superior Rivers Watershed Association for the "Investigating Your Superior Rivers" workshop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Whittlesey Creek National Wildlife Refuge and at Fish Creek. Educators will also connect with Superior Rivers Watershed Association, a local citizen science, nonprofit organization. Successful completion of the workshop and an implementation plan for the coming school year will earn participants a $200 stipend. The event is free and lunch is provided. Superior: The 5th Annual Dennis VanAlstine Memorial 4th of July Car and Motorcycle Show on Tower Avenue starts at 9 a.m. with a car cruise to the Perkins restaurant in Superior. The car and motorcycle show runs from 1-7 p.m. on Tower Avenue between Belknap and Broadway streets. The Born Too Late band will play from 1-3 p.m., followed by the Bordertown Betties Contest from 3-4 p.m., awards from 4:30-5 p.m. and music by The Most Wanted Band from 5-7 p.m.

Superior: Fourth of July parade, 11 a.m., Belknap Street from Morterelli Drive to Ogden Avenue. Live music at Barker's Island will feature Hornucopia from 5-7:30 p.m., and PopROCKS from 8:15-11 p.m. The Fourth of July fireworks display will be launched from a barge at 10 p.m. near Barker's Island. Members of the public are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food truck and beverage vendors will be on site.
