The 2021 Northwest Wisconsin Lakes Conference will be held virtually June 18. The online conference will feature 12 sessions covering lake-related topics, including shoreline stabilization, zebra mussel suitability, the geologic history of lakes in the state, shoreline zoning regulations, shoreline habitat, identifying exotic invasive plants and animals, wake boats and best management practices for shoreline property erosion.
Keynote speaker Cathy Techtmann, environmental outreach state specialist for the University of Wisconsin-Extension, will give a presentation on “Climate Change: Game Changer or Change the Game?" Techtmann aims to use scientific evidence to build awareness of how climate change is affecting species, habitats and what we value about our lakes, as well as how people can take action to build resiliency.
There is a $10 registration fee for the conference; college and high school students can register for free. Register at nwwislakesconference.org. Information, materials and a link will be emailed to participants prior to the conference.
