Iron River: The Wisconsin National Guard will be assisting with drive-thru COVID-19 testing from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Iron River Community Center, 8275 E. Mill St. Anyone age 5 and older, symptomatic and asymptomatic, can receive the free test. Register ahead of time online at https://register.covidconnect.wi.gov or at the testing site. An additional testing date will be held March 5 at the same time and location.

Tuesday, Feb. 23

Superior: The University of Wisconsin-Superior Music Department will feature a free virtual performance by violinist Erin Aldridge, professor of violin and director of orchestra; and clarinetist Jennifer Gerth, senior lecturer, at 7:30 p.m. The two have shared the stage for years as principal players in the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra. They will perform some of their favorite pieces and share stories of their most memorable performances. Register online to receive a video link to the performance. Superior: The Superior Public Library’s virtual book club for adults will meet at 6 p.m. to discuss “The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry” by Rachel Joyce. Find a link to the discussion at superiorlibrary.org. Copies of the book are available for check-out at the library. Patrons can call to request a copy and pick it up using the library’s curbside service.

Saturday, Feb. 27

Superior: UW-Superior’s ‘Jacket Grads of the Last Decade organization and the UW-Superior Alumni Association are hosting a free snowshoe event at 11 a.m. at Bear Creek Trail - Makwa Ziibiins Miikana. Community members are invited on a 4.5-mile round trip snowshoe hike of the Osaugie Trail at Bear Creek Park to Wisconsin Point Road. Participants can complete the full hike or do a shorter distance if they prefer. The adventure will begin in the parking lot near Bear Creek Park located behind the Humane Society of Douglas County. Snowshoes will be available for use at no charge, courtesy of UWS. Participants can reserve snowshoes when they register at https://www.uwsuper.edu/alumni/events/index.cfm.

Superior: The annual Love Your Local Artist fundraiser benefiting Superior Public Library programs and services will be held online because of the COVID-19 pandemic. An online auction featuring locally-made art will be available from Feb. 8-19 at superiorlibrary.org, as well as profiles of the artists and a slideshow of images from previous LYLA events.
