Superior: The Superior Public Library is partnering with NAMI-Douglas County to host a free family and friends support group from 5:30-7 p.m. The session is designed for adult loved ones of individuals living with mental illness and is led by people who have family members living with mental illness. Participants who share their experiences in the safe and confidential setting gain hope and develop supportive relationships. Anyone with questions should email Cindy at cindym49@gmail.com.

Superior: Picture day for virtual students at Superior Middle School will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students are asked to enter and exit through the door to the left of the main entrance. Masks are required. Hard copies of the order forms will be available in the main office, but online ordering is encouraged.

Superior: The Superior Public Library will host a socially-distant storytime at Billings Park in Pavilion #1 at 10:30 a.m. The event will be held rain or shine. Children and families can enjoy stories, songs and a craft.

Superior: Free admission to World of Wheels Skate Center from 5-7:15 p.m. in honor of National Roller Skating Month. Rentals are available for $4 or $5, depending on the type of skate.

Superior: Orders are due for the Maranatha Pasty Bake. Order online at https://forms.gle/KZeG9kHAkFwJc4nY7 or call 715-399-8757. People can pick their orders up from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10. Orders of $60 or more qualify for delivery later in the week. Orders can also be frozen and picked up during school hours the following week, Tuesday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cash or check will be accepted when you receive your order. People can also pay online at www.ma.generush.org.

Friday, Oct. 9

Superior: The Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve hosts an educational event called “Estuaries 101” from 12:30-3 p.m. at Wisconsin Point. Participants will join reserve staff on the waters of Allouez Bay to investigate and try to answer the following questions: What is an estuary and why are they so important?

Superior: The Superior Public Library’s virtual book club for kids meets at 4 p.m. via Zoom to discuss “The Wild Robot Escapes” by Peter Brown. Copies of the book can be requested from the library and picked up via curbside service.

Superior: A free peer support group hosted by NAMI-Douglas County will meet from 5:30-7 p.m. at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Hospital Superior. The group is for adults living with mental illness. Participants will gain insight from hearing the challenges and success of others in a safe, confidential setting. The group is also offered online.
