Superior: The Northwest Wisconsin Workforce Investment Board will host a drive-thru job fair from noon to 4 p.m. at the Superior Public Library. Job seekers are asked to enter the library from Tower Avenue and exit onto North 16th Street. People will roll down their windows, receive a packet and then drive out. Superior: The Small Business Development Center at UW-Superior will host a free online session called “Cultivating resilience during times of stress” from 1-2 p.m. The virtual session will provide people with tips to better understand how stress impacts thoughts and actions. It will also include tools people can use to build resilience and well-being. The session is free, but registration is required. Search for “Cultivating resilience during times of stress” on Facebook to find the event page, which includes registration information.

Superior: Superior Trailblazers Pool League will meet at Top Hat Tavern at 7 p.m. for its 2020 league meeting. Teams will be able to sign up for the 2020 season.

Superior: Girls who are not already in Girl Scouts can attend an animal dance party sign-up event from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at any of the public elementary schools in Superior: Bryant, Cooper, Four Corners, Great Lakes, Lake Superior and Northern Lights. Participants will learn about the connection animals and humans both have to dance; they will watch animals dance in the wild; and they will learn their very own animal-themed dance routine. The free event is open to all school-age girls who are not already in Girl Scouts and their caregivers. Face coverings are required and each event is limited to 25 participants. Superior: The Friends of the Lake Superior Reserve will host a beach clean up at Wisconsin Point from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The group will meet at the Lake Superior Reserve parking lot, 14 Marina Dr., and then head over to Wisconsin Point. Prizes will be given out for the most unique finds. Safety precautions such as mask wearing and social distancing will be in place. Saturday, September 19

Superior: 22nd Annual Cause for Paws 5K Run/Walk. In-person and virtual options are available. The in-person route will be held on the Osaugie Trail near the entrance to Barker’s Island. Those who participate virtually can complete the 5K walk/run and are asked to post a photo of them wearing their event shirt after. Proceeds from the event support the Humane Society of Douglas County. The cost is $30 for individuals until Aug. 21, $40. The cost for families (parents with minor children) is $75 until Aug. 21, then goes to $95. The entrance fee includes a race T-shirt and a bandana for your dogs. T-shirt pickup dates will be announced in late August. More information can be found on the Facebook event page.
