Superior: The Superior YMCA hosts Try Lacrosse Day from noon to 3 p.m. led by Superior Lacrosse. Children ages 7-14 can participate. No equipment or experience is necessary, but children are asked to wear shoes and wear comfy clothes. Register online at bit.ly/trylaxday.

Monday, Jan. 27

Superior: The Superior Sister City Commission will host Shinnenkai - A Japanese New Year’s Celebration from 6-8 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church. The free event will include Japanese food samples, origami, games and more. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent. Free will donations will be accepted.

Superior: The Superior Public Library hosts a free screening of the movie “Judy” from 6-8 p.m.

Wednesday, Jan. 29

Superior: The Superior Readers Book Club meets from 6-7 p.m. at the Superior Public Library. They will be discussing “Since We Fell” by Dennis LeHane. A limited number of copies of the book are available for check-out at the Circulation Desk.

Thursday, Jan. 30

Superior: UW-Superior hosts a youth arts exhibition from 5-6 p.m. at the Kruk Gallery in the Holden Fine Arts Center. The show features artwork from Superior students in kindergarten through high school alongside work of the teachers who foster their creativity. The event is free and open to the public.

Saturday, Feb. 1

Superior: Middle River Health & Rehabilitation hosts a job fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Vintage Italian Pizza. On-site interviews available for Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Nurse Techs, Trained Medication Aides and Certified Nursing Assistants. Pizza will be provided.

Monday, Feb. 3

Superior: The University of Wisconsin-Superior and the American Red Cross will host a Battle of the Badges Blood Drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the second floor of the Yellowjacket Union. The event involves a friendly competition between Superior police and fire departments to see who gets the most votes from blood donors. Superior: Morning Book Club will meet from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Superior Public Library. They will be discussing “Lilac Girls” by Martha Hall Kelly. A limited number of copies of the book are available for check-out at the Circulation Desk.

Superior: Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Hospital hosts NAMI-Douglas County’s Connection Recovery Support Group from 5:30-7 p.m. The free, peer-led support group is for adults living with mental illness.

Superior: The Thaddeus Kosciuszko Fraternal Aid Society (Polish Club) meets at 6:30 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 1710 N. 12th St.

Superior: The Superior Public Library hosts Pajama Storytime for children from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Children will enjoy crafts and a story.

Friday, Feb. 7

Superior: The Superior Public Library will host the 10th annual Love Your Local Artist event from 5:30-8 p.m. Work from local artists will be available for purchase. The event will also include a silent auction, live music, wine and refreshments.
