The Lake Superior Chapter (LSC) of Blue Star Mothers will be celebrating its 10th anniversary with an open house at the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center in Superior on Sunday, May 19, from 2-4 p.m. The public is welcome.

The LSC is a local branch of the national organization of Blue Star Mothers, Inc. Members are mothers of military service members of all branches, both active duty and veteran. Grandmothers, relatives and friends are also welcome to participate.

The chapter's purpose includes supporting one another as military mothers, and supporting service members, veterans and their families. They also provide education about military issues that affect our military members, especially throughout the deployment cycle.

The chapter regularly packs and sends care packages to deployed troops from the region as a reminder of the community's support. Local businesses and churches have contributed to these mailings.

A short program will be held at 2:30 p.m. and refreshments will be served. The Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center is located at 305 Harbor View Parkway.
