Billings Park Days kicks off Friday, Aug. 2, with rummage sales, a car show and a family movie.
The car show runs from 5-9 p.m. Friday along Iowa Avenue, with judging and photos by the Border Town Betties. There is no cost to enter.
Then gather at the ballpark beside the Billings Park Civic Center for a free film that’s out of this world. The Steven Spielberg classic “E.T. The Exra-Terrestrial” will be this year’s movie on the mound.
Events Saturday, Aug. 3, include more rummage sales, a one-block parade at 10 a.m. on Iowa Avenue, a dog show at 1 p.m. and a Power Wheels demolition derby for children age 8 and younger at 3 p.m. The kids fair along Iowa Avenue between North 18th and 20th streets will be run by Mentor Superior, with all proceeds going to the nonprofit.
Everyone is invited to take part in the parade. Just line up at North 19th Street by Smooch a Pooch salon at 9:15 a.m.
To participate in the Power Wheels demo derby, helmets are required and Power Wheels must pass an inspection. Register by 2:30 p.m. at the main stage.
It’s free to enter the dog show as well. Show off your pup’s favorite outfit, trick or just their cute face. Sign up at Smooch a Pooch, 1827 Iowa Ave. or call 715-392-7297.
Organizers said the annual neighborhood celebration brings up to 5,000 people to the area. A full listing of events and times, as well as a rummage sale map, will be posted on the Billings Park Days Facebook page and billingsparkdays.com.
