Friday, Dec. 24

Superior: Sweeden Sweets, 601 Tower Ave., will host Santa and Mrs. Claus from noon to 5 p.m. There will also be free cookie decorating and free hot chocolate and chai tea. For more information, visit the Sweeden Sweets Facebook page.

Tuesday, Dec. 28

Superior: Fairlawn Mansion and Museum hosts Twinkling Holiday Evenings every Tuesday in December from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Attendees can enjoy treats, cider, music, s'mores, crafts and more. The museum will open under staggered admittance every half-hour. Each attendance time is limited to 25 people to allow for social distancing, though guests are not limited to the amount of time they spend in the mansion. The cost is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and students, and children 12 and under are free. Tickets are available online at superiorpublicmuseums.org/tours or through the gifts shop. Masks are strongly recommended.

Thursday, Dec. 30

Superior: The Superior-Douglas County YMCA hosts a free food distribution event from 4-6 p.m. Free 4-5 pound bags of nonperishable food will be distributed in the YMCA lobby.

Saturday, Jan. 1

Amnicon: A First Day Hike will be held at Amnicon Falls State Park beginning at 1 p.m. at the park contact station. Participants will take a guided 1- to 2-mile hike on the Thimbleberry and Snowshoe trails, sponsored by the North Country Trail Association and Friends of Pattison and Amnicon State Parks. A Wisconsin parks day or annual pass is required. Hikers should come prepared for winter conditions. Registration is recommended at www.meetup.com/sscbhikers .
