Superior: The University of Wisconsin-Superior will host a Veterans Day ceremony from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Shippar Family Atrium at the Yellowjacket Union, 1605 Catlin Ave. The event is free and open to the community and will feature the presentation of the colors, the national anthem and a performance from the Chi Waagamin Singers. UWS Chancellor Ren ée Wachter and Eric Hudson of the Douglas County Veterans Service Office will offer remarks. The presentation of the Henry Blomberg Excellence in Service Awards will follow.
Superior: The Elks Lodge will host a meal for veterans at the Elks Lodge, 1503 Belknap St. A social hour will start at 5 p.m., followed by the opening ceremony at 6 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. Dinner includes spaghetti, meatballs, salad, garlic bread and dessert. The meal is free for veterans with proper military ID, DD-214, or veterans ID card. An $8 donation is requested for nonveteran guests.
Saturday, Nov. 13
Parkland: The Parkland Community Group is sponsoring its holiday expo at the Parkland Town Hall, County Road K, South Range, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. More than 30 crafters and vendors will have a variety of items available for shoppers. There will be raffles, and food and beverages will be available all day. Anyone who brings a hat, mittens or gloves for the mitten tree will be entered into a drawing for prizes. Admission is free and the event is handicap accessible.
Poplar: Home for the Holidays bazaar and bake sale runs 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 9523 E. U.S. Highway 2. Masks are encouraged.

Superior: Lego Club at the Superior Public Library meets from 4-6 p.m. Children are invited to build something amazing from the library's huge collection of Legos. Masks are required to participate in Lego Club.

Superior: Storytime in the Park will be held at the Superior Public Library at 10:30 a.m. The weekly event includes stories, crafts and fun for children.
Virtual: Lake Superior Writers hold a virtual Book Club for Writers with Danielle Sosin, author of “The Long-Shining Waters” 6:30-8 p.m. on Zoom. Register at writers@lakesuperiorwriters.org by Monday, Nov. 15.

Poplar: Mission Covenant Church hosts the 2021 Hunter’s Expo from 5-9 p.m. Attendees will be able to see mounts of the best deer in Northern Wisconsin, as well as other unique big and small game mounts. The event includes prizes, seminars, food and vendors.
Friday, Nov. 19
Iron River: Free drive-thru COVID-19 testing will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Iron River Fire Hall, 8285 U.S. Highway 2. No appointment needed. Participants must be 1 year old or older; a parent or guardian must be present for minors. Pre-registration is available online at https://register.covidconnect.wi.gov/ .

Superior: The Douglas County Historical Society will host a craft fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1101 John Ave.
Lake Nebagamon: Kids in Nebagamon Holiday Craft Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Lake Nebagamon Auditorium, 11596 E. Waterfront Dr. Vendors will be on hand selling a variety of items, including quilts, jewelry, candles, wood and metal art, jam, canned goods, photography, baked goods, cards and much more. There will also be a KIN quilt raffle, silent auction and bag raffle. Food and beverages will be available throughout the day. Free admission. Superior: Campell's Lumber and Supply will host Santa Paws from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is a fundraiser for the Humane Society of Douglas County. Attendees can get their pets and family photos taken with a festive holiday backdrop by Lady Jane Photography with a donation to the humane society. Other merchandise will be available for purchase including humane society apparel, fudge from Sweeden Sweets and ARCO Coffee and Tea. Due to social distancing restrictions, organizers are not able to have Santa Claus at the event.
