Saturday, Sept. 26

Superior: The Wisconsin Society for Ornithology will host Jaegerfest on Wisconsin Point from 7 a.m. to noon. Participants are asked to park at the first beach parking lot along Moccasin Mike Road. More details can be found on the Facebook event page for Wisconsin Point Weekend: Jaegerfest.

Superior: Barker’s Island Farmers Market runs 8:45 a.m. to noon near the SS Meteor.

Superior: The Friends of the Lake Superior Reserve will host a beach clean up at Wisconsin Point from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The group will meet at the Lake Superior Reserve parking lot, 14 Marina Dr., and then head over to Wisconsin Point. Prizes will be given out for the most unique finds. Safety precautions such as mask wearing and social distancing will be in place. Tuesday, Sept. 29

Washburn: Memorial Blood Center will host a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bayfield County Health Department, 117 E. 6th St., as the need for blood and platelets is urgent. MBC requires that all donors have their temperature checked when they arrive to give blood. Masks are required. Donors are advised to stay home and not give blood if they have experienced symptoms of COVID-19 in the previous 14 days, have had a positive COVID-19 test in the last 14 days or are currently on self-quarantine restrictions. Make an appointment online at mbc.org/coronavirus-blood-donation/.

Superior: The Superior Public Library will host a socially-distant storytime at Billings Park in Pavilion #1 at 10:30 a.m. The event will be held rain or shine. Children and families can enjoy stories, songs and a craft.

Superior: Downtown Farmers Market runs 10:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the 1200 block of Banks Avenue.

Superior: Bryant Elementary students interested in joining the Cub Scouts can attend an informational meeting from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the school. All children from grades K-5 are welcome.

Superior: The Superior Public Library’s virtual book club for adults meets via BlueJeans at 6 p.m. to discuss “Red at the Bone” by Jacqueline Woodson. Copies of the book can be requested from the library and picked up via curbside service.

Superior: The Thaddeus Kosciuszko Fraternal Aid Society (Polish Club) meets at 6:30 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 1710 N. 12th St.

Superior: The Superior Public Library is partnering with NAMI-Douglas County to host a free family and friends support group from 5:30-7 p.m. The session is designed for adult loved ones of individuals living with mental illness and is led by people who have family members living with mental illness. Participants who share their experiences in the safe and confidential setting gain hope and develop supportive relationships. Anyone with questions should email Cindy at cindym49@gmail.com.

Wednesday, Oct. 7

Superior: Picture day for virtual students at Superior Middle School will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students are asked to enter and exit through the door to the left of the main entrance. Masks are required. Hard copies of the order forms will be available in the main office, but online ordering is encouraged .

Superior: The Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve hosts an educational event called “Estuaries 101” from 12:30-3 p.m. at Wisconsin Point. Participants will join reserve staff on the waters of Allouez Bay to investigate and try to answer the following questions: What is an estuary and why are they so important?

Superior: The Superior Public Library’s virtual book club for kids meets at 4 p.m. via Zoom to discuss “The Wild Robot Escapes” by Peter Brown. Copies of the book can be requested from the library and picked up via curbside service.

Sunday, September 27

Superior: The Superior chapter of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul will celebrate St. Vincent de Paul Day from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cathedral of Christ the King. The event will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Superior’s Society of St. Vincent de Paul, as well as the 175th anniversary of the U.S. society. It features food, door prize drawings, a mile-long walk for the poor, awards for the adult and youth walkers who raise the most in sponsorships and a silent auction.
