Superior: Girls who are not already in Girl Scouts can attend an animal dance party sign-up event from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at any of the public elementary schools in Superior: Bryant, Cooper, Four Corners, Great Lakes, Lake Superior and Northern Lights. Participants will learn about the connection animals and humans both have to dance; they will watch animals dance in the wild; and they will learn their very own animal-themed dance routine. The free event is open to all school-age girls who are not already in Girl Scouts and their caregivers. Face coverings are required and each event is limited to 25 participants. Superior: The Friends of the Lake Superior Reserve will host a beach clean up at Wisconsin Point from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The group will meet at the Lake Superior Reserve parking lot, 14 Marina Dr., and then head over to Wisconsin Point. Fundraisers

Superior: 22nd Annual Cause for Paws 5K Run/Walk. In-person and virtual options are available. The in-person route will be held on the Osaugie Trail near the entrance to Barker’s Island. Those who participate virtually can complete the 5K walk/run and are asked to post a photo of them wearing their event shirt after. Proceeds from the event support the Humane Society of Douglas County. The cost is $30 for individuals until Aug. 21, $40. The cost for families (parents with minor children) is $75 until Aug. 21, then goes to $95. The entrance fee includes a race T-shirt and a bandana for your dogs.
