Superior: The 5th Annual Twin Ports Foosball Tournament will be held at 3 p.m. at Izzy's BBQ Lounge and Grill, 1506 N. 3rd St. The Bring Your Partner (BYP) tournament will begin at 3 p.m., followed by a Draw Your Partner (DYP) tournament. Contact Ron at 218-260-1738 to sign up between 1:30 and 2:45 p.m. The cost is $15 per player with 100% pay out. In addition, Izzy's contributed $250 to the purse. Superior: The University of Wisconsin-Superior keyboard faculty invites students in grades 7-12 to participate in the 2022 Keyboard Fest from 12:30-5 p.m. at the Holden Fine and Applied Arts Center, 1805 Catlin Ave. The program offers a practical introduction to the world of church music for pianists. The cost to attend is $10 per person, which includes snacks. Those who are interested shoudl register at uwsuper.edu/keyboard .

Superior: The Superior Public Library hosts its book club for adults at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. The group will discuss "Lady in the Lake" by Laura Lippman. Copies of the book are available for checkout at the library. Participants can choose to attend the session that fits their schedule best, and can do so in-person (masks required) or virtually. Superior: The Lake Superior Ice Festival kicks off with snow creations at Fairlawn Mansion from noon-4 p.m.; hot air balloon rides from 3-5:30 p.m.; live music, food and beverages from 5-8 p.m.; mini golf from 5-8 p.m.; a disc golf seminar from 5-8 p.m.; and the Superior Police Department and the Superior Fire Department will face off in Kubb from 5-8 p.m. In addition, the Spirit Room will create the Frozen Penguin Ice Bar at 1323 Broadway St., from 4-9 p.m. For the full list of events, visit lakesuperioricefestival.com .

Superior: The Lake Superior Ice Festival continues at 9 a.m. with a market and craft fair at Barker's Island Inn; a Kubb tournament and sessions on learning to play Kubb; snowshoeing, skating and sledding; an ice carousel; bonfire pits; ice racing by the Lake Superior Ice Association; music, food, beverages and ice carving. The festival's Canine King and Queen and the Felines of the Festival will be crowned at 1:15 p.m. Attendees will be able to take photos with their favorite characters from 1:30-3:30 p.m. There are many events and activities scheduled for children, as well. Virtual: Lake Superior Writers will host a Zoom discussion with T. Marie Bertineau from 6:30-8 p.m. Bertineau will talk about her book, “The Mason House,” and host a Q&A about the book and her writing. After her father’s untimely death, Bertineau faced a rocky and unstable childhood. But there was one place she felt safe: her grandmother’s house in Mason, a depressed former copper mining town in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. “The Mason House” is at once an elegy for lost loved ones and a tale of growing up amid hardship and hope, exploring how time and the support of a community can at last begin to heal even the deepest wounds.
