Superior: The Superior Public Library hosts its Bookworms Book Club for kids at 4 p.m. The group will discuss "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" by J.K. Rowling. Copies can be checked out at the library.

Superior: The Superior Douglas County YMCA hosts a free drive-thru food distribution event from 10 a.m. to noon in its south entrance driveway. The YMCA has partnered with Every Meal to provide free 4-5 lb. food bags to those in need. Four varieties are available to anyone in need.

Superior: The Superior Jaycees host their annual Gitchee Gumee Brewfest fundraiser from 2-6 p.m. at Wessman Arena. The event will showcase brewers from across the region. VIP admission runs from 2-3 p.m., followed by general admission from 3-6 p.m. VIP tickets are $55 per person. In addition to early entrance to the event, VIP ticket holders also receive access to a VIP area and an unlimited taco bar. General admission runs from 3-6 p.m. The cost is $30 per person. Tickets can be purchased at Keyport Liquor, all 7 West Taphouse locations, and online at twinportsnightlife.com . All proceeds from the event are donated back to the community.

Superior: Fairlawn Mansion hosts A Children's Home Easter from 10 a.m. to noon. Families are invited to learn about life at Fairlawn Mansion during the children's home era. The event includes a sampling of foods they enjoyed during Easter, traditional games, crafts, an Easter egg hunt, meet-and-greet with the Easter Bunny, tours of the mansion and more. Children ages 2 and under are free; tickets for children ages 3-12 are $8 each; and tickets for those 13 and up are $10 per person. Purchase tickets online at superiorpublicmuseums.org .

Superior: The Superior Public Library hosts a free screening of Steven Spielberg’s remake of the classic “West Side Story” from 6-8:30 p.m. Love at first sight strikes when young Tony spots Maria at a high school dance in 1957 New York City. Their burgeoning romance helps to fuel the fire between the warring Jets and Sharks — two rival gangs vying for control of the streets. The film is nominated for seven Academy Awards including Best Picture.

Superior: A warrant resolution event takes place from 9-11 a.m. in room 270 of the Government Center. The Douglas County Circuit Court, district attorney’s office, state public defender’s office and probation and parole are sponsoring the event to help those with outstanding warrants resolve them.

Superior: The University of Wisconsin-Superior hosts a “Piano Duo” performance by pianists Ji Young Lee from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and Hector Landa, UWS assistant professor, at 7:30 p.m. in Thorpe Langley Auditorium on the UWS campus. Brule: The Old Brule Heritage Society (OBHS) will hold its April general meeting at the Brule Town Hall at 6 p.m. The evening will include a potluck supper. Following the meal, the group will hear about Douglas County history from historian and playwright Teddie Meronek. Meronek’s presentation is titled “Local librarian fires Frank Lloyd Wright.” The general meeting will follow the presentation. The event is open to anyone who is interested in local history. The hall is handicap accessible.

Superior: Lake Superior Writers (a nonprofit organization) will host Superior Shares, a virtual open mic from 6-7 p.m. The event is free and open to members and nonmembers. If you wish to read, 10 five-minute reading slots are available. Participants can learn simple everyday self-care tools for themselves and their children and develop some basic dialectical behavior therapy and mindfulness skills for supporting children through tough times. Superior: An Earth Day cleanup takes place from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in Central Park, 717 Sixth Ave. E. Learn about the water cycle, take part in kite decorating, plant milkweed and clean up cigarette butts. Free and open to the public. In the event of rain, it will take place at the Superior-Douglas County Family YMCA.

The Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO) Chapter EL from Ashland is hosting a wine bundle fundraiser for its Community Partnership Scholarship. Donate $25 and receive a mystery bottle of wine, certificate for a free tasting at White Winter Winery in Iron River, original artwork by Karen Thiel and chocolates. Since 2017, the Community Partnership Scholarship has been awarded to young women graduating from Ashland, Bayfield, Drummond, Northwestern, South Shore or Washburn high schools.
