Jonathan Chicka, a member of the Boy Scout Troop No. 213 and resident of Foxboro, earned the honor of Eagle Scout, the highest rank the Boy Scouts offers.
Chicka, 18, is a recent graduate of Superior High School, completed 23 merit badges to receive the Eagle Scout award. For his final project he built more than 15 cat scratching posts for the Humane Society of Douglas County.
While a member of the troop, Chicka served as senior patrol leader, patrol leader, webmaster and several other duties. At SHS, he was on the cross country team for four years, a member of the SkillsUSA team for two years and was the stage manager for two musicals.
“I am grateful for all of the support along my journey to Eagle, especially to my troop leaders and my family, and the members of the troop that helped me with my project,” Chicka said.
Jonathan is the son of Ron and Ellen Chicka, and he has one brother, Thomas, that is a life scout. A ceremony honoring him took place on May 19 at Concordia Lutheran Church with more than 50 friends and family in attendance.

Only 3-4 percent of Boy Scout members ever attain this prestigious honor, according to Troop 213 Scoutmaster Greg Kvam.
