The Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center, the Bong Book Club, Richard I. Bong American Legion Auxiliary and the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post 435 are once again looking for donations for the Silver Bay Veterans Home in Minnesota.

Started 12 years ago, the program was launched to bring holiday cheer to area veterans.

Bring donations to the Bong Center by Dec. 20 and place them in the box located in the lobby. The gifts should be unwrapped. You may include your name on the gift or donate anonymously.

Suggested gift items include candy, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, razors, deodorant, aftershave, white and colored t-shirts, and men’s underwear. This year, staff and residents identified Culver’s and McDonald’s gift cards as a specific need for frequent trips to Duluth for outings and doctor appointments.
