Douglas County residents can sign up for food baskets and the Toys for Tots program from Nov. 2 through Dec. 3 at the Salvation Army of Superior, 916 Hughitt Ave.
Participants can register from 10 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Only a limited number of people will be allowed in the building at a time to ensure social distancing and masks must be worn. Participants can also choose to pick up a registration sheet, bring it home to fill out and then return it.
Holiday food basket distribution takes place Dec. 17. Toys for Tots will be held at the Superior Fire Department Headquarters, 3326 Tower Ave., by appointment Dec. 12 and 13.
Captain Jasen Elcombe said he expects the Salvation Army of Superior to kick off its holiday bell ringing season Nov. 6. This year’s fundraising goal is $65,000, the same as last year. Bell ringers must wear masks or a scarf to participate; registration is available online at registertoring.com . Watch the Salvation Army Facebook page for more information.
