Art festival offers something for whole family

The Namekagon Art & Music Festival takes place Saturday in Seeley, Wis.

The festival, which began in 1999, is still going strong and better than ever with a new covered stage for the musicians. There is still room for 35 or more art vendors.

A highlight of the day is the Poetry Jam hosted by Kristine Lendved. Poets of all ages get a chance to compete in age groups for special prizes and to read their poem on the main stage.

There will be live music all day starting at 10 a.m. with the mellow tunes of Jon Adler, Sonofmel, followed in the afternoon by Sean Okamoto and the new bluegrass group, True Grass.

Art vendors offer sculpture, paintings, photographs, jewelry, woodcrafts and lotions, as well as a few local nonprofit organizations.

Food and beverages provided by the Seeley Lion's Club.

The Cable Hayward Area Arts Council hosts a Kids' Art Tent with free art projects, or wine glass painting and t-shirt tie-dyeing, which do have a fee.

The festival runs until 5 p.m. at the Mooselips Festival Grounds in Seeley, between Hayward and Cable. Come early and stay all day for the music, food and fun for the whole family.
