Nominations for the Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin Contest will be taken through Sept. 4.
This marks the fifth year for the annual contest, a partnership between Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce and Johnson Financial Group. The event aims to highlight the state’s manufacturing industry – which employs one in six Wisconsinites – and ultimately determine the Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin.
Any product that is manufactured in Wisconsin qualifies for the contest; nominations can be made online at www.madeinwis.com .
Products that made the top 16 list in 2019 included a rifle made in Rice Lake, an outboard motor made in Fond du Lac, infused Maple syrup from Stevens Point and a John Deere lawn tractor from Horicon. Past products to be nominated have included motorcycles, military vehicles, cheese products, boats, generators, food carts, iron castings, beer, all-terrain vehicles, snow blowers and more.
The winner of the contest is decided by popular vote through a bracket-style tournament called Manufacturing Madness. This year’s winner will be named Oct. 14.
