A new business opened its doors Saturday, Sept. 14, at 1308 Tower Ave. in Superior. It’s for the dogs. And cats. And rabbits.
All Natural Canines offers chemical-free pet grooming and supplies, including products created by owner Amy Mundt of Ashland. She grooms dogs of all sizes as well as cats and rabbits using chemical-free products both on the animals and to clean the shop and equipment.
Mundt brings 13 years of grooming experience and a love of dogs to the new business.
She grew up on a hobby-farm-turned-zoo in Wausau surrounded by cougars, bobcats, skunks and dogs. Her parents later opened a pet store where they sold the puppies they bred. Mundt started grooming there and later opened her own business in central Wisconsin.
After taking a 10-year hiatus to raise and home-school her children, Mundt began working as a certified nursing assistant. But she found her true passion was grooming.
“I love working with dogs,” said Mundt, who has nine German shepherds of her own. One, a nearly 100-pound pup named Henry, greeted visitors Wednesday, Sept. 18.
The Ashland woman enjoys the variety and the artistic aspect of the job as well.
“They come in kind of scruffy,” Mundt said of her clients, and she sends them home clean and styled.
The commute is long, but Mundt wanted to set up shop where there was a need. The Ashland area, she said, already has an abundance of groomers.
