A Superior business has a new look inside, one which will soon be reflected by the sign outside. When Rascal’s Professional Pet Grooming moved to 119 Belknap St. three years ago, it expanded to carry pet supplies and souvenirs. Owner Crystal Broderson said the small business is changing its name to Rascals Pet Boutique and Spa.
“It’s just always something I thought would be really cool to have here. There’s so many pet owners, so many dog owners in Superior,” she said. “Why not have a pet store? Why wouldn’t we?”
The boutique side of the business carries pet care products like grooming supplies, treats, toys, harnesses, collars and leashes as well as coffee mugs and greeting cards. Customers can find items for large and extra large breeds as well as clothes geared toward smaller dogs.
While the supplies are targeted to dogs and cats right now, that will evolve. Much of what Broderson offers is based on customer requests
“I try to keep people updated on Facebook and then every time somebody calls and asks if we have something, if we don’t, we’ll have it soon,” Broderson said. “We’ll definitely look into carrying it.”
Rascal’s also offers a do-it-yourself pet bathing station. No pre-registration is necessary.
The self-bathing station and boutique are open during regular business hours, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
