A new Mexican restaurant, La Tequila, is coming to Superior's South End neighborhood.

The family business, an offshoot of El Tequila restaurants in Hayward and Spooner, is expected to open June 1 at 5802 Tower Ave., the former location of City's 58th Street Diner.

Owner Luis Garcia confirmed he is opening the Superior restaurant, as well as a La Tequila in Minong, with his nephew. He's been working at his uncle's El Tequila family restaurant in Hayward and plans to offer the same authentic Mexican cuisine.

"We just want people to give us a chance," Garcia said.

Carlos and Kennya Escobedo opened the Hayward El Tequila in 2012, according to an article on Drydenwire.com. The Spooner branch opened in 2017.

The Minong restaurant will be located in the former Flap Jacks Cafe building at 700 Adams St. It is expected to open April 5.

"We are excited to have La Tequila as part of the business community for Minong," said Minong Area Chamber of Commerce Secretary Lori Adrihan. "It will be a nice edition to the restaurants we have to offer our community as well as the tourists that visit."
