Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital-Superior has named a replacement for its retiring administrator.

Kim Pearson, who has been employed by Essentia since 1986, replaces Terry Jacobson, who will retire in early March, according to a news release from Essentia on Thursday, Feb. 6.

Pearson has held various leadership positions at Essentia, most recently director of nursing in Superior. She received her nursing degree from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth and her master’s degree from Western Governors University in Salt Lake City, Utah.

“Kim has served the Essentia family her entire career and has built deep and meaningful relationships along the way,” Tamm Kritzer, senior vice president for operations at Essentia, said in the release. “She has a deep understanding of our mission and values, and will bring this to her new leadership role.”

Jacobson has been with Essentia for 32 years, first in finance and and then as administrator in his hometown.

“He is the ultimate bridge-builder,” Kritzer said of Jacobson. “He is committed to supporting his staff and seeks to constantly enhance staff engagement. Terry leads by example and with authenticity, and has been foundational to the growth of services in Superior.”
