The University of Wisconsin-Superior hosts the second in a series of free beekeeping workshops 9 a.m. to noon March 17 in Swenson Hall, 1610 Weeks Ave., Room 1013.
Taught by Dr. Edward Burkett, UW-Superior biology professor and apiary manager, "Beekeeping 102: Let's Talk Bees" is designed to teach first-year beekeepers how to care for new honey bees, but will be beneficial to second-year beekeepers.
Topics covered will include honey bee biology, installing packages and hiving nucs, first-year spring and early summer hive management, how to perform a hive inspection, honey bee diseases and parasites, swarm prevention and a question and answer session.
