A power outage left about 1,350 Superior Water, Light and Power customers in the dark Sunday night.

The power outage started around 9:20 p.m. when overhead equipment failed near North 29th Street and Ogden Avenue, causing a main feeder to lock out. Repairs had to be made to get customers power restore. It was not a transformer failure, Allete spokesman Dave Ojala said.

Power was restored at 11:28 p.m. Sunday.

Because of the power outage, which affected customers south of North 20th Street, the Superior Fire Department experienced a larger call volume, mainly resulting from false fire alarms, Superior Fire Chief Steve Panger said.
