Unemployment was up month-over-month in June in Superior and Douglas County, according to figures released Wednesday by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.

Superior's unemployment rate grew from 3.1 percent in May to 4.3 percent in June the preliminary figures show; Douglas County went from 3.5 percent to 4.3 percent in the same period. The rates in both cases were below June 2017, when Superior had an unemployment rate of 5.1 percent and Douglas County was at 5 percent, preliminary figures show.

Statewide, unemployment grew by 0.1 percent with about 800 additional people unemployed in June, still below the national rate of 4 percent.
