Senior Connections is hosting "Welcome to Medicare," a free presentation for Douglas County residents 60 and older who will soon be receiving Medicare.

The presentation is for anyone who does not have a good understanding of all the puzzle pieces of Medicare. While Medicare can be a confusing program with its many options, it provides essential medical coverage for most Americans age 65 and older, and many individuals with disabilities. Before

making any decisions about Medicare coverage, it is a good idea to take some time to understand

how it works and what it can do for you.

There are four distinct parts to Medicare, each of which cover a different health care need. Some parts will even penalize you if you do not enroll at a specific time, so you need to know what to do and when. This presentation will help you understand the different options available to you and explain some of the benefits and drawbacks of each.

The presentation takes place at 9:30 a.m. May 8 at the Superior Senior Center, 1527 Tower Ave.

Brenda Kohel, elder benefit specialist, is the presenter.

There is no cost to attend but to ensure adequate materials are available, people are asked to RSVP by calling (715) 394-3611 by May 4.

If you would prefer an evening Medicare presentation, call with your name and phone

number so we can contact you if an evening session will be scheduled, or if you prefer a one-on-one with Kohel.
