The Heart O’North Conference football championship has been hard to decide the last two seasons.
White Winter Winery hosts its sixth annual Emergency Pig Out from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at 68323 Lea St., Iron River. The pig roast raises money to help purchase and maintain equipment for Iron River Emergency Services. The Iron River Lions Club is holding a separate fundraiser to purchase and install new children's playground equipment near the community center. For the past five years White Winter Winery has been sponsoring the Emergency Pig Out.

All city offices, public works and the landfill are closed Monday for the Labor Day holiday. That means trash won't be collected for residents with Monday garbage service. City residents with Monday service are asked to have their garbage ready for collection by 7 a.m. Tuesday. All other residents should place their garbage out by 7 a.m. on their regularly scheduled day, but there may be delays in pickup. The recycling schedule will be delayed one day for the holiday. A Foxboro man who sent a sexually explicit photo to someone he thought was a 15-year-old girl, — it was actually a Superior police officer who received it — was sentenced to five years in prison for that and a seventh offense of driving drunk.
A Marshfield, Wis., died Wednesday in Lake Superior following a sailing accident. According to the Bayfield County Sheriff's Office, Stanley Szczytko, 68, was attempting to untangle a line to a jib sail of a 42-foot boat. When the line freed, he accidentally fell overboard. A woman still aboard called for assistance.
Two people were injured when a garbage truck collided with a train in Rusk County near Weyerhauser.
