The Superior Police Department was alerted Sunday to a social media post that suggested a threat of violence at Superior High School, according to a news release issued by the department.
The Yellowjackets will now play St. Scholastica in the championship game at 5 p.m. Saturday at Duluth’s Public School Stadium.

A Superior woman facing felony drug and perjury charges made an initial appearance in Douglas County Circuit Court last week. Julie Ann Meade, 30, is facing felony charges of perjury before a court, delivery of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. According to the criminal complaints: Meade gave false testimony under oath in April during the Douglas County jury trial of Gary Allen Howen Jr. The jury found Howen guilty of seventh offense operating while intoxicated and he was sentenced to four years in prison.

Superior police say a man wanted in connection with a firearms incident in the 2300 block of Tower Avenue was arrested in Duluth without incident. Lucian James Allen, 19, of Duluth is being held in the St. Louis County Jail pending an arrest warrant and extradition to Douglas County. On Monday, Superior police reported being called to North 23rd Street and Tower Avenue around 6:21 a.m. Sunday after a 25-year-old man was Maced, then possibly shot at through a closed apartment door.
