Thanks to a near-perfect start, the Superior High School boys basketball team took over first place in the Lake Superior Conference with a 76-65 win over the Hermantown Hawks Tuesday night in the SHS gym.
Dominic Moselle, Lydia Thering and Ted Whereatt are among the 30-member class for 2015 that will be inducted at the WIAC Hall of Fame Banquet to be held on Aug. 1 at UW-Platteville.

The Superior High School boys hockey team defeated the New Richmond Tigers 7-2 Tuesday night at Wessman Arena.

The Spartans scored three power-play goals, two by Jesse Polson and one by Tyler Nystrom. Mark Shold also scored for Superior.
After opening the tournament with a 5-2 win over Mankato West, the Spartans were blanked by East Grand Forks 5-0 on Tuesday and lost to Duluth Marshall 4-1 in the third-place game Wednesday afternoon.
The Spartans play East Grand Forks (8-2) at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday. EGF is currently ranked No. 3 among Class A schools in Minnesota and advanced with a 5-3 win over Delano, which is ranked No. 10.
