Fifteen members of the Superior High School football team were named to the Big Rivers Conference all-conference team.
The evening began with the St. Benedict Blazers rallying past the Yellowjacket women 54-53, and the night ended with the UWS men falling to St. John’s 89-79.
Yellowjackets scored one goal in pair of non-conference losses
Krueger, who was born on May 28, 1929 in Milwaukee, served as head coach at UWS from 1984-87, compiling a record of 5-36-1 and 3-28-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Under the guidance of new head coach Rich McKenna the Yellowjackets defeated Northland College 9-2 Friday night and the Finlandia Lions 10-3 Saturday.
The Yellowjacket women’s hockey team is coming off its first losing season in Dan Laughlin’s 13 years as head coach.
While McKenna brings with him a new system and a number of new players, he wants Yellowjacket hockey to stay true to its storied history, which includes at least a dozen NCAA tournament berths, national championships in 1976 and 2002, and second-place finishes in 1994, 1998 and 1999.
