Sports Echoes – Jan. 31

The UW-Whitewater Warhawks may have made a big mistake when they tried to “play it honest” and didn’t double-team Dave Cochran, UW-Superior coach Jim Gleboff said in analyzing the Yellowjackets’ 94-85 road win over the Warhawks. The 6-foot-5 guard scored a career-high 43 points (18-of-27 shooting) and hauled in 18 rebounds. Willie (Fly) Reed kept his teammate’s performance from being a one-man show by netting 21 points and pulling down 14 rebounds. The ’Jackets improved to 5-2 in the conference and 10-5 overall. The Warhawks are now 2-4 and 6-9. (1978)
