UWS men stop Stout

Superior Telegram

The University of Wisconsin-Superior men’s hockey team defeated UW-Stout 6-2 in a non-conference game Thursday night before a crowd of 287 at the Fanetti Community Center in Menomonie.

The victory was a bit of revenge for the Yellowjackets, who lost to the Blue Devils 6-2 in December.

UWS scored two goals in each period with two of the tallies coming off the stick of Jordan Neduzak.

Neduzak gave the Yellowjackets a 1-0 lead 8:38 into the first period and his power-play goal gave UWS a 4-2 lead midway through the second period.

UWS (6-11-2) also got goals from Cal Miska, Ian Ecklund, Jimmy Hughes, and Eric Shand.

Miska’s goal was his first of the season and Ecklund’s tally was his team-high eighth.

Cory Simons had 31 saves for Superior and Nick Schmit and Chase Hollander combined on 24 saves for Stout (9-5-4).

Superior hosts Stout on Jan. 29 and UW-Eau Claire on Jan. 30. Both games begin at 7:05 p.m.
