UWS soccer teams sweep Finlandia

The University of Wisconsin-Superior soccer teams both notched wins Tuesday over the  Finlandia Lions at Hancock, Mich.

Rachel Rossiter and Katelyn Adams scored goals 37 seconds apart late in the second half and Bailey Henderson made six saves as the Lady Yellowjackets won 2-0.

Rossiter scored in the 73rd minute and Adams followed suit in the next minute to complete the scoring. Lily Marcelius assisted on both goals.

The win was the first of the season for the Yellowjackets (1-4-1).

Men win in OT

Gio Rodriguez’s goal in the final minute of overtime lifted UWS to a 1-0 victory.

Rodriguez’s shot was the 17th on goal for the Yellowjackets (4-2 overall, 1-0 WIAC) but the only one to elude goalkeeper Brandon Roeske.

UWS goalie Zach Harwerth faced only two shots from Finlandia (3-4, 0-1).
