Bob Kelly and Ray Schnell of Superior hit the jackpot of their long bowling careers by taking the doubles title in the Wisconsin State Men’s Bowling Tournament in Appleton. They combined for a 1,327 total (including a 15-pin handicap). Kelly hammered a 662 actual series and Schnell was close behind at 650. (1973)

Four members of the UW-Superior baseball team were named to the Wisconsin State University All-Conference team. The Yellowjackets on the elite team are catcher Len Campbell, second baseman Greg Rajanen, outfielder Pete Susens and pitcher Larry Soyk. Rajanen hit at a .360 average, Campbell batted .318 and committed only one error in 120 chances, Susens batted .341 and drove in 11 runs in the 15 conference games, and Soyk posted a 3-0 pitching record with a 0.73 ERA. The ’Jackets finished the conference season with a 12-3 record. (1975)
