Sam Holden and Alex Quinones each had three of the University of Wisconsin-Superior’s 15 hits and Tom Fairbanks hit his 14th home run of the season to lead the Yellowjackets to an 11-1, eight-inning victory over UW-Stout in the first of two Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference games Friday at Menomonie.

Quinones added three RBIs and Holden scored three times to back Travis Elwood’s complete-game seven-hitter as UWS (17-14 overall, 8-10 WIAC) cruised in the opener.

The Blue Devils (20-15, 10-10) rebounded in the nightcap to win 8-3 behind Zach Carlson’s seven-hitter. Jack Schneider, Brady Burzynski and Jake Lunow had two hits apiece off UWS pitcher Damian Wilbin. Quinones and Jordan Koepp each had two hits for the Yellowjackets.
