UWS men lose home finale

The University of Wisconsin-Superior men’s basketball team was officially eliminated from WIAC post-season contention with a 90-77 loss to UW-River Falls Wednesday night at Mertz Mortorelli Gym.

David Berthene scored 20 points, Ollie White added 13 and 12 rebounds for the Falcons (8-16 overall, 3-12 WIAC), who shot almost 42 percent (10-for-24) from behind the 3-point line while snapping a six-game losing streak.

Peterson led the Yellowjackets with 20 points on 6-of-15 shooting, including 4-of-6 on 3-point attempts. Bronson Byrne added 17 points and 13 rebounds. Zach Schradle and Brian Lindblom dropped in 15 and 13 points, respectively for the Yellowjackets, who shot 45.2% from the field for the game.

The Yellowjackets (7-17, 4-11 WIAC) close out the 2013-14 season at 5 p.m. Saturday at UW-Oshkosh.
