UWS, Peters blank St. Scholastica

The Yellowjackets’ first goal came 1:44 into the contest as Hailey Adair buried one from the left slot. The second UWS goal mirrored the first as Alison Shrift made it 2-0 Yellowjackets less than six minutes later.

UWS outshot CSS 12-8 in the second period, which included holding the Saints without a shot on a 30-second 5-on-3 power play.

Superior had a 28-16 shot advantage for the game and Shanley Peters picked up her second straight shutout with 16 saves. Shanley now has four shutouts this season.

Sheridan Friesen and Lindsey Hartfiel had 26 saves in goal for CSS.

The Jackets (12-2-4) host UW-Eau Claire on Jan. 24.

The Saints (9-3-2) face another nationally-ranked team this weekend when they travel to take on sixth-ranked UW-River Falls for a two-game set. Friday's game begins at 2:05 p.m.

Karen Larson leads the ’Jackets in goals with 10, and is second in points with 18. … The Saints’ only win over UWS a 4-3 in overtime in 2012.
